Memorial Service in NJ, Funeral in Tri-Cities

Here is the information for the Memorial Service and Funeral. Of course everyone is welcome to attend both, but if attending only one of them is going to save money you might consider using that to help out JJ and the kids with their travel arrangements to the Tri-Cities. You can do so by donating to the fundraiser (link is a few posts ago) or you can email me at seanberg@microsoft.com for a good address to send support. I will post more information soon.

Update: 11-21-2011

Haley passed away today, with her husband JJ at her bedside. Our prayers and faith are now directed towards JJ and the kids, because we know Haley is in a better place and reunited with loved ones including both her earthly father and Heavenly Father.

I will post more in the coming days, with updates on funeral services and ways we can help out the family.

Update: 11-18-2011

Haley's MRI has been postponed until tomorrow to give some of her vitals (like blood pressure) a chance to stabilize. From what I understand, this procedure will be the conclusive determination of her condition and prognosis. I know she - like the rest of us - is in Heavenly Father's hands and that whatever the outcome we can know He is there and mindful of us. I believe in miracles. I've heard it said that the Red Sea did not part until Moses was up to his neck in water. I'd say that's about where we are now...

The Kids

A few people have asked for an update on how the kids are doing. Here it is. In case you don't know, here are the kids and their ages:

Claire - 14
Thomas - 12
Benjamin - 10
Olivia - 5
Sam - 1

Claire, Thomas and Benjamin are keeping busy with school and sports. JJ has told them of what is going on, the seriousness of the situation, and that we are praying for a miracle. It was so great to see these kids this past week. They are the same kids they have always been, so good to eachother, best friends, and very protective of their younger siblings.

Olivia is mostly unaware, but she knows that her mom is sick in the hospital and is clearly concerned from worried expression on her little face.

and has been spending most of her time with her super-positive, chatterbox cousin Whitney who is a dream come true at a time like this.

Sam turned 1 on Wednesday. He is adorable. We had a birthday party for him with all the family in town with pizza and cake. It was bittersweet.

Update: 11-17-2011

Yesterday we were told that Haley had a slight pupilary reaction in her eye (I am not sure if it was one or both of them) when nurses tested her reflexes. This is a small improvement from before. When she was on more of the coma medications, she had zero reaction to the light when it was shined in her eye.

Today Haley was transferred to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC. From what I have heard, I believe she is all but weaned from the coma medications. We are fasting and praying. Tomorrow is going to be a very big day.

Update: 11-15-2011

You may have already seen this post from Elisa on Facebook, but in case you haven't:

Haley is still in an induced coma. The seizures have stopped. The doctors are starting to take her off the coma medications slowly, so they can monitor her brain activity, because it is not possible to monitor brain activity while she is on the meds. We are praying for a miracle, because we know that is what it will take. Please pray that as the meds go, we get Haley back. The family is there, they are singing to Haley and talking to her. They want us to have faith in Heavenly Father. They love all of us and they can feel all of our prayers and love. I will update as often as I can.

Haley Jo

If you are reading this, then you must already know that Haley Jo - our sister, friend, daughter, cousin, aunt and example - is fighting for her life. This blog is the best place to come for updates on her condition and how we can help.

If you have any updates you would like to share, please email them to seanberg@microsoft.com and I will review and post.
